Firefighters used patience, towels, and a treat to help a drenched stray puppy out of a in Paragould, Arkansas storm drain.
The Engine 2 crew learned that a puppy was stuck in a drain near the Paragould Fire Department station, KAIT reported. After removing a heavy iron grate, one firefighter climbed into the drain to keep the puppy from moving farther inside.
Firefighters then focused on getting the wet puppy out safely. Two crew members used a treat to guide the pup toward them, and once the little dog was within reach, a firefighter wrapped the pup in a towel and lifted the puppy safely back above ground.
Crews worked to warm the puppy after the rescue, according to NEA Report. The department said the puppy had no collar, appeared to be a stray, and was turned over to animal control.
Lady Freethinker applauds the Paragould firefighters’ patience and compassion. They gave a frightened puppy the time, care, and gentle encouragement needed to make it out of danger.
