PETITION TARGET: Lee County Attorney Ross J. Braden
Five young kittens were allegedly collected into a bag, brought to a garbage dump in Iowa, and stomped on repeatedly. Four did not survive.
Though a fifth reportedly pulled through, that kitten’s condition and whereabouts have not been publicly reported.
Police arrested a suspect after employees at the Great River Regional Waste Authority reported seeing the attack on surveillance footage. Court documents say the suspect, a 62-year-old man, admitted to the heinous cruelty. He was charged with animal torture, a Class D felony.
The pain and fear these kittens likely experienced is unimaginable. All five of these innocent animals depended on people for protection — not to be put in a bag and treated like trash.
Sign our petition urging Lee County Attorney Ross J. Braden to prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law, and if there is a conviction, ban the person responsible from having animals in the future.
