A Lady Freethinker (LFT) investigation conducted in December 2024 in partnership with Paws of China – a local Chinese animal welfare organization – revealed foxes subjected to alarming cruelty on fur farms.
The investigators documented shocking abuses – including heartbreaking footage of a fox hanging upside down, screaming in pain as the skin was peeled from their body. Sadly, this footage is similar to the investigation LFT conducted previously, exposing the abhorrent suffering of animals skinned alive — all for their fur.
Investigators found hundreds of foxes trembling in fear, spinning in distress, and cowering at the back of their confining, barren, metal cages as they heard the wails of those being slaughtered. Bodies piled below the captive, living foxes – who could only wait in obvious terror before they, too, would be skinned.
Investigators documented workers ripping foxes out of their enclosures by their sensitive tails or with metal poles and shoving them into cages packed with other animals.

Workers then hauled the cages crowded with petrified foxes and hurled them onto the backs of trucks, the foxes falling over each other within wire enclosures.

The fur industry continues to profit from this disturbing violence, and Lady Freethinker will continue fighting to end this suffering. Horrific animal cruelty is not luxurious or fashionable.
China remains the world’s biggest producer of animal fur and the largest exporter of fur worldwide – including to the United States. To stop this torture, we must end the demand for fur for good.
“Behind every fur coat is an animal who was caged, slaughtered, or even skinned alive,” says Lady Freethinker President and Founder Nina Jackel. “Lady Freethinker is calling on all retailers to drop animal fur because there is no excuse to torture animals when we have so many luxurious, cruelty-free materials already available.”
Please sign our petitions today urging Berluti and LVMH to stop selling animal fur. Remember to leave all real furs, skins, and feathers — whether new or used — out of your wardrobe to show this suffering is never acceptable.
