When good samaritans in Brooklyn spotted two kittens searching for food in the freezing cold, they felt compelled to help and sprang into action. The concerned citizens called on rescue group Infinite Hope, which sent out volunteers to humanely catch the nervous kitties.

The volunteers took the kittens to the vet, where their age was estimated at 4 or 5 months old. During their visit, the vet discovered that the kittens’ uniquely adorable appearance is due to rare chromosomal abnormalities.

One of the kittens, Dactyl, suffers an eyelid deformation called entropion. Because of his disadvantage, Dactyl had to rely on his sister, Morela, to be able to survive on the streets. When they were rescued, the vet performed surgery on Dactyl’s eyelid, giving him some much-needed pain relief. Morela, the braver of the two, remains protective of her brother, providing him with snuggles when he needs reassurance.

Thanks to the efforts of his rescuers, Dactyl’s eyelid is fixed and he’s no longer in discomfort. These happy, healthy, unique siblings are currently up for adoption together, waiting for their forever home!
