A recently-built wildlife overpass in Utah is helping deer, bears, mountain lions, and other animals safely cross a dangerous major highway.
The Utah Division of Wildlife delivered the good news on November 19 via a Facebook post, which features video footage of the busy bridge.
“It’s working!” the enthusiastic post reads. “As you can see, the second year of this overpass has been successful at helping wildlife safely migrate over busy Interstate 80 and helping motorists be much safer as well.”
The bridge was constructed a few years ago to enhance the safety of both animals and drivers. Known as the Parleys Canyon Wildlife Overpass, the structure came as part of a project to widen the interstate below it.
The Division of Wildlife concluded the announcement by reminding people that the bridge is meant for wild animals only.
“Please keep off of this overpass,” the post urges readers. “Thanks!”
