Theo, a senior dog with a terminal illness, is living out the remainder of his life in luxury, thanks to a compassionate couple determined to make all of his remaining days special.
Jenny Leech and her husband, Scott, welcomed the 12-year-old canine into their home after someone found him abandoned in a Walmart parking lot in Joliet, Ill.
“He has cancer nodules throughout his abdomen,” Jenny told WGN9. “The oncologist said he wouldn’t have long but would not put a number on him.”
Despite his diagnosis, Theo seems happy, and Leech wants to keep it that way. She started a ‘bucket list’ for the dog, which kicked off with them going out for ice cream. After sharing his adventures on Facebook, others started offering bucket list suggestions.
Theo has checked off a bucket list item every day for the last two months, making the most of his life by swimming in a lake, attending a drive-in movie, going on a blind date with a German shepherd named Sasha, and even winning a lottery prize.
This moving story reminds us that it’s never too late to make the world a more compassionate place for the people and animals around you.

Leave alone at the poor and innocents dogs bastards cowards
God bless the both of you. In my eyes you are true animal angels with hearts of gold and caring souls. Theo is beautiful and blessed having you in his life. God bless you Theo!
Please keep me posted on Theo’s progress thank you Best Paul Cross
Dogs don’t really have bucket lists-it is a people thing-but it is wonderful that Jenny and Scott took him in and are giving him such a good life. I would definitely take in a dog who was dying. I took in a dog many years ago who it turned out was slowly dying. He was with me for 5 months and I never regretted it. I hope to do it again with other dogs at some point. I know the rest of Theo’s life will be filled with love and that is what counts right now.
God bless the couple that adopted the pup. Glad he was able to live out his last days. People who get dogs need to realize they get sick, too.Dont get them of u cant take care of them.
Horrific cruelty heartbreaking atrocious
Thank you for posting this uplifting story about a dog, and the people who must love him VERY much!! I am so mentally exhausted from hearing about the horrible, sick, derranged torture people inflict on innocent, sweet, animals, and for once to hear about a pup, and peoole who love him, is a bright spot in my day. Even if the pup is not going to be with them for too long, his last few days….months….whatever, Will be amazing!!!

Yes
Thank you to Jenny and Scott for their compassion. I’m sure their dog apreciates it.
Thanku for taking this senior citizen in and givibg him the best time for what remains of his life 🐶🐕🐾❤
Some people would abandon or euthanize their pets because they’re too old and they want a new puppy, or even when they can afford medical care they don’t bother or just because they’re tire of them. But not Jenny and Scott where they see the life of a sentient being is worth the dignity of a final love and care. Thank you, you are angels in disguise.
I love people who adopt senior cats and dogs, especially when their days are not long.
Thank you to Jenny and Scott, and anyone who opens their hearts to animals in need <3
You make the world a better place
Un grand MERCI à ces personnes absolument remarquables! Très heureuse pour ce chien!
I cried I was so happy seeing this dog having a wonderful life with his new awesome parents who adopted him. God bless this family for taking Theo in with cancer. This story revives my hope in humans and that there are still a lot of good ones. Thank you to Theo & his new home parents for sharing this story & Lady Freethinker for caring for innocent animals. When Leo is called to his eternal home in heaven Jesus Christ will be waiting for him and tons of other dogs to have fun with in heaven.
Damn-it…someone left onions on the counter again.
May the rest of your days be filled with happiness, little man, because you sure have filled ours with happiness, hope and inspiration.
And a huge thanks to your new mom and dad, Jenny and Scott. It is folks, such as yourself, that prove humanity can have a heart.
