It’s that special time of year when Lady Freethinker invites animal welfare organizations across the world to submit their projects for funding consideration — LFT’s Urgent Need Fund is officially open for applications!
The program has helped thousands of animals over the past 5 years, giving over $360,000 to projects that improve the lives of animals, from direct rescue and medical care of domestic, farmed, and wild animals to humane education of communities for long-term change in the treatment of animals.
Each year, we are inspired and humbled by the incredible work being done by animal organizations to make the world a more compassionate place for all beings.
Some of the projects awarded funding last year included building a corral at an Arizona sanctuary for a herd of donkeys rescued from a wild burro roundup; providing vaccines and supplies for hundreds of dogs of low-income guardians in Chicago; and sterilizing & vaccinating 350 dogs and cats in an underserved community in South Africa.
We couldn’t do this important work for animals without the help of all of our supporters. LFT is incredibly grateful for every donation that enables us to continue delivering this critical aid to animals in need.
Applications will be accepted until August 9, 2026 at 5 PM PT. Those groups receiving grants will be notified by November 2, 2026.
Do you know a nonprofit animal organization with a project helping animals that is in need of funding? Please encourage them to apply for aid.
Eligibility requirements include registration as a nonprofit organization for at least two years, the ability to provide tax filings, financial reports, and bank statements, and details of the specific project with an itemized budget.
