To help the animals displaced, injured, or otherwise harmed by the recent L.A. wildfires, Lady Freethinker has rushed over $15,000 in critical aid to local animal rescue groups.

Sponsored by a grant from Lady Freethinker, Bubbles Dog Rescue pulled Luke and Louie from a crowded shelter where they may have faced euthanasia. The dogs received veterinary care and were placed in a foster home. By moving Luke and Louie to foster care, kennel space was freed up for animals displaced by the fires.

LFT provided FurryTail Endings local animal rescue with food and supplies for displaced animals, including Scarlett the dog and Jalebi the kitten, who were both fostered by the organization.

Donor support has also allowed us to sponsor efforts by Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center to help wild animal victims suffering from burns and smoke inhalation; supplies for LA County’s Agoura Animal Care Center’s large animal residents; and food, supplies, and a mobile groomer for animals exposed to ash and other chemicals for the Lange Foundation.

“As an L.A.-based animal advocacy organization, it’s important that we get funding directly into the hands of local rescuers, vets, and other helpers in times of crisis,” said Lady Freethinker Founder and President Nina Jackel. “Thanks to our supporters, these groups have what they need to provide life-saving care to animals injured and displaced by devastating fires.”

Wildfires often displace thousands of animals, and they are frequently forgotten victims of such devastation. Lady Freethinker encourages all animal guardians to have an emergency plan in case of natural disasters, including food to last a couple of weeks, cleaning supplies, a first aid kit, medications, toys and/or blankets, and a transport carrier.

Huge thanks to the amazing organizations aiding animals affected by the wildfires and to our generous LFT supporters for making it possible for us to assist these animals who needed urgent help.
