On a scorching summer day in China, shelter dogs and cats gathered happily around big blocks of ice sponsored by Lady Freethinker, bringing cool relief that turned into one big tail-wagging party!
With temperatures soaring to almost 108 degrees Fahrenheit, dogs and cats enjoyed a much-needed respite from the heat. In all, your support helped provide hundreds of ice blocks, cooling spray equipment, and nourishing food.

The compassionate team at the Ping An A Fu shelter cares for thousands of dogs and cats saved from horrific cruelty. Some were abandoned on the street, many were victims of abuse or neglect, and others were rescued from the dog and cat meat trade or research labs.
Among the shelter’s residents are beagles previously used in cruel animal experimentation. Many arrived sick and afraid, but after months of rest, veterinary care, and gentle attention, they began their path to recovery, making friends, growing more comfortable around people, and learning to simply be dogs.

Despite enduring heartbreaking cruelty, these vulnerable dogs and cats are finally receiving the safety, comfort, nourishment, and loving care they deserve.
