Humans aren’t the only ones recovering from the loss of family members to the devastating earthquake that shook Italy early Wednesday morning.
As seen in the images and video below, Flash the cocker spaniel does not want to say goodbye to owner Andrea Cossu, and refused to leave the side of his beloved human’s casket during the funeral.
Cossu was on vacation in Pescara del Tronto when the quake hit. Tragically, a building toppled onto Cossu, killing him.
When Flash attended the funeral along with Cossu’s wife, the dog reportedly kept pawing at the casket and did not want to leave his deceased owner.
This is just one more example of the love and loyalty felt between humans and their companion animals. Loss of a family member is heartbreaking — no matter what your species.
