After nearly two years of patiently waiting in a South Carolina shelter, Tucker the dog has finally found his forever home.

Tucker came to the All About Animals Rescue and Transport, Inc., an animal rescue based in South Carolina, in January 2021 in bad shape — full of cigarette burns and knife wounds and clearly starving. Thankfully, the rescue quickly obtained veterinary treatment and Tucker recovered.

But Tucker’s emotional wounds took longer to heal than his physical ones. Tucker’s foster family said the patient, sweet dog  — while open to new experiences with meeting other animals — was still wary of cars, new people, and children.

When it became clear that Tucker was doing well with the foster family but needed more space — including a fenced yard where he could run freely outside — All About Animals tried again to find a forever home. The rescue distributed a public plea, hoping this last resort would lead to results.

Within one month, Tucker’s adopters stepped forward.

Tucker’s forever family is aware of his past trauma and desire to spend more time outside, and they are ready to provide him with everything he needs, according to news reports.

We at Lady Freethinker are so happy that this precious pup can now rest knowing he is cared for, loved, and will no longer have to endure abuse. Remember to always adopt and never shop for companion animals! There are countless dogs just like Tucker waiting in shelters for the loving, forever homes they deserve.
