This stray cat was in dire need of help. Suffering a severe injury to the leg, he was limping along and could barely walk.
Fortunately, this smart kitty knew just where to go — the front door of Walter Santi and his family, who heard the desperate meows for help. They took him to the vet, who diagnosed an infected leg wound as well as a fracture that had just started to heal.
The cat was treated for his injuries, requiring a 2-night stay at the vet. Afterward, the family took him home and provided the care he needed to make a full recovery.
Now, the lucky feline is one of the family, and enjoys frolicking with the other cats of the home.
I love these kind of stories!
“GOD BLESS” WALTER SANTI/FAMILY……”BRAVO FOR YOUR CARING STRENGTH”
Thank God for people like the Santi family — PLEASE keep it up — I pray others will replicate your care & respect for cats — outdoor (& indoor) cats need our intervention to lead happy & healthy lives — again, thank you to beautiful Walter & his wonderful family for returning this cat to a state of good health & happiness — job well done — keep doing the RIGHT thing — interesting that the Santis returned the cat outdoors — I know why — the cat REALLY wanted to return to smell the roses — & you probably have faith that he will NOT repeat his dangerous skirmishes with other animals — I pray he remains injury-free for decades to come — again, THANK YOU for rescuing one of God’s creatures.
I thought that was Anelida ‘s cat. So happy he helped him, and he’s now living in that beautiful Kitty Garden of Eden. That family is wonderful – they help so many animals, especially hurt and lost cats <3
Somehow they do know where they will be welcomed. Bless that kind person who took the time, and spent the money, to heal and keep “Smart Kitty”.
What a lucky kitty to have found such loving people to help him. I hate that any cat has to live outside but do understand it when it comes to ferals. He is a lover. Wish you could bring him inside. Thank you for helping him. God bless you.
As long as the cats have shelter, water, food, and other cat friends, they’re probably happier than cats who are stuck inside all the time. Cats love to be outside and explore, and express their independence.
I know the world is a dangerous place these days, but there is a serious trade-off that occurs when bringing cats permanently indoors.
from Italy thank you for helping that wounded cat. You are beautiful souls, that is why he knew where to go…
I judge a person by how they treat animals. This person is a beautiful individual and God will bless them for helping His creation.
Good for you you smart kitty! And a big thank you for helping him and making him part of your family!!!
This cat knew where to go and get help because it could smell or see that there were other cats living there. It knew the going would be good.
That was one smart cat. Probably knew that these people would help because they had other cats living there. Knew they were cat friendly people. Don’t understand why the vet didn’t put the cone of shame on the cat to prevent it from licking it’s wound.
There is a special place with God for saving the wounded kitten. Thank you for caring so much. Its a beautiful thing to see with all the hatred in the world.
Lucky cat. Now if he just stays in the backyard.
I thought the same thing Jan. Great story..but disappointed when I heard he was *put outside to live*. By the looks of the houses etc..it looks like the cats stay out 24/7. Not the best ending..especially after all the injuries he sustained outside. I really hope it’s COMPLETELY enclosed..but I doubt it.
Thank you for helping this cat he had good care and eventually he will make a full recovery,I hope the garden is safely secured.
I love this!!!!! Put a huge smile on my face…such a wonderful family for not turning him away or shutting the door
Sometimes I think God guides these animals in distress to where they will get the help they need. I think my 5 dogs would attest to that. And they are as much a blessing to my wife and I as we were to them.
Thank you for caring about this precious little sweetheart.
Thank you for taking such good care of this precious baby!
Bless you, for opening your hearts and ‘wallet’ to help this kitty. I am on a fixed income and take care of feral cats, TNR when I can. People think I am crazy because I will go without things I need. But I cannot understand how others can walk away from animals in need of love and food and shelter, especially in Minnesota winters. Thank you for helping this cat. We may not be able to change the lives of all animals in distress, but it made a world of difference for this one. Look at him/her now!
if people think you’re crazy.. don’t worry.. you’re not alone. I wear my clothes to death, I pick up furniture people have out on the street for the garbage or whoever wants it for free.. I eat cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly.. I spend way more money on my 14 cats than I do on myself. they matter more to me than any luxuries. and I help a local shelter get stray cats and donate money for each one.
Sam: please read my comment – you’re included in my definition of the best people on Earth <3
Bless you so much. You are a true hero and a star
You are NOT crazy. We, and many people we know, do with a little less just to help our neighborhood cats. Your sharing your life and what you do have with cats who really need help – if that makes you crazy, I wish the whole world was as crazy as you <3 Compassion and caring is NEVER wasted. I hope many good things , even if they're little, for you. You deserve the best.
as grateful as I am for people who will care for cats in distress, I have to wonder what was the point in filming him while he hobbled and cried. are they concerned for the cat or for getting applause?
You make a valid point. I am grateful that they ultimately helped the cat. I guess that the necessity of filming the cat in distress is part and parcel of society’s mania for committing everything and anything to digital record and sharing it.
I Agree and thought the same 🙁
Sam I don’t think so. I believe they simply wanted to document the kitty’s original condition. I know because I rescue too, and though I don’t have a video I try to photograph ‘before’ and ‘after’. It isn’t morbid, it’s practical.
Cindi – you’re right. This was to document the before and after of Kitty’s story.
This way we saw the wonderful things this man and his family does for lost, abandoned, and injured cats. This is not for their glory – it’s to show what a little time and love can accomplish.
This is not the first wideo Walter (their dog) Santi (their cat) has. The family rescues many.
I bet he knew that was a good place to go to because of the other cats there. They probably told him “This is a cool place with nice people.”
Are you implying that cats communicate with their own version of hobo signs?
Ha! I looked up “hobo signs” and saw the cat! So, yes, I guess you are right!!
