During rush hour on Wednesday morning in Brooklyn, a little black lamb appeared on the Gowanus Expressway.
Highway Patrol Officer Dominic Gatto tried to catch the animal as she ran toward him, but he underestimated how fast lambs can run, and she effortlessly sped past him.
Photos of the chase soon appeared on social media, along with footage from an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer’s dashcam.
To catch the lamb, Officer Gatto drove down the highway, blocked the road with his car, and waited for her. He took her to the Animal Care Center on Staten Island, where the staff named her Petunia.
Nobody knows where Petunia came from, but she’s now in safe hands and has a new home at the Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in New Jersey.
