Theo, a senior dog with a terminal illness, is living out the remainder of his life in luxury, thanks to a compassionate couple determined to make all of his remaining days special.
Jenny Leech and her husband, Scott, welcomed the 12-year-old canine into their home after someone found him abandoned in a Walmart parking lot in Joliet, Ill.
“He has cancer nodules throughout his abdomen,” Jenny told WGN9. “The oncologist said he wouldn’t have long but would not put a number on him.”
Despite his diagnosis, Theo seems happy, and Leech wants to keep it that way. She started a ‘bucket list’ for the dog, which kicked off with them going out for ice cream. After sharing his adventures on Facebook, others started offering bucket list suggestions.
Theo has checked off a bucket list item every day for the last two months, making the most of his life by swimming in a lake, attending a drive-in movie, going on a blind date with a German shepherd named Sasha, and even winning a lottery prize.
This moving story reminds us that it’s never too late to make the world a more compassionate place for the people and animals around you.
