PETITION TARGET: Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith

UPDATE (4/20/2022): Larry Allred was charged with a misdemeanor of animal cruelty and ordered to pay a measly fine of $250, according to WJTV. The misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty will remain on his record. We are disgusted that a crime of fatal animal cruelty, which also victimized the dog’s human family, was met with such a lenient sentence. We will continue to do all we can to advocate for innocent animals like Bae Bae. Thank you to everyone who signed this petition. — Lady Freethinker Staff

An eight-month-old shepherd mix named Bae Bae was cruelly shot and killed in rural Terry, MS, simply for wandering onto a neighbor’s property.

The puppy’s guardians received a phone call from the property owner, 67-year-old Larry Allred, asking them to come get the dog. Twelve-year-old Kaylee Wilkerson went out to retrieve Bae Bae, and was calling his name as Allred loaded his shotgun and fired a bullet into the puppy’s head.

Kaylee described the gruesome scene that unfolded as she was about to grab the dog: “I saw the hole in his head and blood dripping down the driveway.”

Kaylee’s older sister, 15-year-old Lexi, recollected Bae Bae’s horrifying final moments: “When I first came outside, I thought he was still alive because his tail was still moving.”

The girls watched Bae Bae take his last breath before reporting to their mother they had just witnessed his “brain come out.”

Allred was arrested for animal cruelty and must be held to the highest standards of justice for his crime.

Sign this petition urging Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith to prosecute Allred to the fullest extent of the law and to impose a lifetime ban on him owning or caring for animals.
