Unfortunately, we were not able to get any additional details about this case despite multiple checks back. We’ll continue to advocate for animals! —Lady Freethinker Staff
Locked in a wire cage outside in the bitter cold, a three-month-old puppy froze to death overnight in the backyard of a Grapeland, Texas home.
Coated in ice, four more dogs and four horses also suffered through the severe temperatures, chained and tethered nearby without access to shelter or food, according to the Grapeland Police Department.
Police transferred the surviving dogs to a local veterinarian clinic for treatment and removed the horses. Cruelty charges are being filed against the animals’ guardian(s), according to CBS19.
There is no excuse for leaving innocent animals outside in life-threatening weather conditions. Whoever blatantly neglected these dogs and horses — resulting in one puppy’s death — must answer for their actions.
Sign this petition urging Houston County District Attorney Donna Gordon Kaspar to prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law, showing that such animal cruelty will not be tolerated.
