PETITION TARGET: Senior Crown Attorney Sean Sass
Helpless kittens and cats suffered as the life was crushed out of them on camera – their deaths drawn out for several agonizingly long minutes – for videos reportedly filmed in Canada and spread on the dark web, according to Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
“Investigators told me that this is the worst case that they’ve dealt with — a very, very horrible case involving animal cruelty,” Winnipeg Police (WPS) spokesperson Const. Stephen Spencer said at a press conference discussing the case, per Western Standard.
A Winnipeg animal protection officer contacted police after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen who discovered graphic images and videos online of animals being crushed to death by human feet. The bodies of 10 cats and one rabbit were then reportedly found in the home of two suspects — all dead — according to authorities.
No animal deserves to suffer the excruciating pain, fear, and helplessness of being crushed to death for “entertainment.”
“These are not quick kills,” Senior Crown Attorney Sean Sass said about the crush videos, reported by CBC. “They’re staged, premeditated torturing that result in the death of very vulnerable animals.”
Police believe some of the victims were purchased from social media selling platforms, solely to be tortured and killed for the videos, according to Western Standard.
Cats and rabbits are gentle companion animals — deserving of loving homes and protection. The cats and rabbit in this case deserved to grow old in a safe home with a family who cherished and cared for them. Now they will never have that chance.
Two individuals have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty crimes.
Sign our petition asking Senior Crown Attorney Sean Sass to treat this case with the severity it deserves by prosecuting it to the fullest extent of the law — including a lifelong ban on having animals and intensive psychological intervention.
