Rikki, a gorgeous white Husky discovered with a gun shot wound to her head, has found sanctuary with a caring foster home while she recuperates, Mikey’s Chance rescue told Lady Freethinker.

“She is doing amazingly well adjusting to her foster home,” said the rescue’s director, Andrea Moreno.

Rikki has finished her antibiotics and healed well. She may always have a slightly wonky run due to nerve damage from her injuries, but otherwise she shows no lasting signs of trauma, Moreno said.

“She loves all people and is doing well with most of the dog friends she meets,” she said. “She will make a wonderful companion for some lucky person, couple, or family.”

Rikki also has a new best friend — another dog named George.

“They are always together!” Moreno said.

We are overjoyed that this sweet girl is doing well and hope she can find the loving forever home she deserves.

Lady Freethinker thanks the more than 40,000 people who signed our petition urging justice for Rikki. We haven’t received any updates from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office yet, but we will keep asking and following this case.

If you haven’t already, please make sure to sign our petition. And if you’re interested in possibly adopting Rikki, don’t hesitate to reach out to Mikey’s Chance!
