A new medical center to help sick and injured animals is now open in Nepal, sponsored in large part by Lady Freethinker through our Urgent Need Fund grant program.

The clinic and shelter, operated by local organization Voice of Animal Nepal, celebrated with an inauguration and by opening their doors to nine dogs in need.

The opening ceremony was a huge success — with key leaders from the Mahalaxmi Municipality, the Lubhu police chief, veterinarians from Valley Animal Hospital, and community members joining in the celebration.

Voice of Animal Nepal’s new veterinary clinic has already helped save nine dogs with urgent medical needs following the inauguration. Some of the treated dogs suffered from skin diseases, some had transmissible venereal tumors (TVT), and others had been injured by cars.

Dogs who live on the streets of Nepal are tragically at risk of being hit by vehicles or contracting serious diseases like distemper and Parvo. Now, with the opening of this new medical center, these innocent animals will have somewhere to turn for help if they need it.

“Today, we have felt more responsibility on our shoulders to help these animals” Ishwari Thapa, President of the Voice of Animal Nepal, told LFT. “Clinic and shelter construction was not possible without your support.”

LFT’s Urgent Need Fund grant program — which provided funding for the medical care these dogs in Nepal so desperately needed — was made possible by Lady Freethinker supporters. With your help, we have also helped spay and neuter over 200 street dogs and have helped feed street dogs and cats in Nepal.

Every animal deserves to receive medical care when they need it — no matter where in the world they live.

Lady Freethinker celebrates the inauguration of this life-saving medical center and all our supporters who help sponsor projects to bring aid to animals in need across the globe.
