In an instant, Bear’s world became painfully small.
A passerby found the young Great Pyrenees puppy sitting helplessly in a ditch in rural Texas, as the water levels rose around him. Bear had been struck by a car, unable to move because both of his back legs were broken.
Alone, injured, and frightened, Bear’s situation was dire: the local animal control facility that picked him up could not place dogs for adoption. Without rescue, he was likely to be euthanized.
Thankfully, Bear’s story took a positive turn.

Local rescue group Three Little Pitties answered the call, rushing the seven-month-old puppy to a veterinarian. The group committed to care for Bear, no matter how uncertain the road ahead might be.
Thanks to your generosity, Lady Freethinker was able to help sponsor the lifesaving surgery Bear desperately needed, giving him a real chance at recovery.
The road wasn’t easy. Bear required orthopedic surgery, followed by careful monitoring as his still-growing body healed. His rescuers knew there could be complications along the way, including the possibility of further procedures as he continued to develop. Still, they remained by his side week after week, determined to see him through.

Today, that commitment — and your support — has paid off in the most beautiful way.
Bear is no longer confined by pain or fear. He’s relaxing in the grass, cuddling with his foster family, and playing with his dog friends. He tosses his toys into the air and tries to catch them, watches birds and squirrels from the yard, and plays tug-of-war with his pals — all the things a puppy his age should be doing.

What began as a frightening, risky rescue has become a story of resilience, compassion, and hope. And there’s more good news: Bear has been officially adopted, and is now on his way to his forever home in Pennsylvania.
