A small puppy named Lucy is safe today thanks to the skilled response of local firefighters, who carefully freed her after she was found with her head stuck in a cinder block wall in Goodyear, Arizona, shortly after Christmas, according to ABC News Live.
Goodyear firefighters were initially dispatched to what appeared to be a routine EMS call, but just before arriving, they learned it would instead be a service rescue. The team then reassessed the new circumstances, selected the appropriate tools, and approached the trapped puppy.
While one firefighter held Lucy’s head out of the way to protect her from debris and give the others room to work, the remaining firefighters used their tools to clear out enough of the debris to pull her to safety. Thankfully, she was found to be in good health with no reported injuries and was returned to her home.
“Any excuse we get to hang out with a puppy is great for us,” Goodyear firefighter Patrick Micula told ABC News Live following the rescue.
Lady Freethinker is deeply grateful to the Goodyear firefighters whose ingenuity, gentle approach, and teamwork helped save this vulnerable puppy from harm.
