Two animal-loving police officers in Yonkers, New York came to the rescue of a tiny kitten trapped in a sewer last month.
While walking her dog along Riverdale Avenue, a concerned resident heard desperate mews emanating from the sewer. This good Samaritan contacted emergency services and shortly after, Officers Jamie Molina and Anthony Alaimo from the 3rd Precinct and Emergency Service Unit arrived on the scene.
The officers carefully retrieved the bedraggled kitten from the bottom of a deep drain, wrapped her in a towel, and dropped her safely to the Yonkers Animal Shelter.
In a world where we are often overwhelmed by seemingly endless cases of animal abuse and neglect, we applaud the caring passerby and dedicated police officers for taking the time to save a life.
