A horse wedged in a drainage ditch in Plano, Texas, is safe after firefighters and a veterinarian worked together to free them, according to local news.
The horse was among several who escaped near a highway early in the morning on Oct. 17. Responding officers guided the group onto a nearby business property, but one horse became spooked and ended up in the ditch.
Once on the scene, firefighters teamed up with Dr. Rodriguez of Allen Animal Clinic, who safely sedated the horse so crews could proceed with the rescue.
Firefighters then used a fire hose and winch to lift the horse out of the ditch, and thankfully, the horse was able to walk away with only minor scratches.
“An unusual call, but a great example of teamwork in action!” Plano Fire-Rescue said in a social media post shared by FOX 4.
Lady Freethinker is grateful to the firefighters, police officers, and veterinarian who came to this horse’s aid, and to all first responders who extend their compassion to animals in need.
