When a miniature horse named Sammy arrived at the Carolina Equine Rescue and Assistance in North Carolina earlier this month, he was in dire need of medical treatment. Sammy had been abused so badly that Darlene Kindle, owner of the rescue center, was encouraged to put him down.
Darlene refused to give up on the emaciated pony, however. Although Sammy was reduced to skin and bones and barely able to walk, she had hope that he would pull through. Sammy needed to be washed, groomed, dewormed, and fed.
Just days later, Sammy’s health began to improve noticeably. He started putting on weight and walking more steadily.
But Sammy needed more than just medical care. He’s traumatized by the abuse he endured and has a long road of emotional healing ahead of him. Kindle’s golden retriever, Molly, gently introduced herself to Sammy and the two quickly became inseparable. Molly comforts him and is helping him learn to trust again by providing him with much-needed (and deserved) TLC.
Watch this video to catch a glimpse of the beautiful friendship between Molly and Sammy!

My thoughts and prayers are with all the animals that are in gods green earth and with Darlene Kindle so that people like her canhelp these innocent creatures given to us by the creator !
I love this. I have golden that I adore. The best dogs. God bless Molly and Sammy. Wishes for a long and happy life for both.
IF ONLY WE HUMANS WOULD LEARN FROM THERE’S WONDERFUL ANIMALS… WHAT A GREAT WORLD THIS WOULD BE. ♡♡♡
GOD BLESS TO ALL AT THE SANCTUARY AND TO MOLLY AND SAMMY!
BLESS YOU. I don’t know how people can be so cruel…..bless you all.
Let Molly be the spokesdoggie for all her kind at Texas A&M…THAT CARRIES OUT HEINOUS DISGUSTING LAB EXPERIMENTS IN FILTHY CONDITIONS ON GOLDEN RETRIEVERS…masquerading as medical research…when even muscular dystrophy patients say this torturous cruel abusive treatment is wasteful spending, without merit, and completely fruitless!!! SAVE THE GOLDENS!!!
How true. The first time I heard about that, I had a hard time believing that there are people literally making dogs get muscular dystrophy so that they can perform cruel, barbaric, painful and useless experiments on them. This is totally unacceptable. These people need to start feeling remorse and start refusing to do these unconscionable experiments on these poor, defenseless dogs.
Bless Darlene and Molly. And Sammy too. Animals are so much kinder than humans.
Thanks so much to Darlene and Molly, what a great thing they have done and continue to do for Sammy, It’s good there’s there’s people like Darlene in this word.I hope Sammy and Molly are friends for A very long time
Thank you Darlene for taking such care of Sammy. Molly seems to really love being with him so much.
Thanks Darlene for not giving up on Sammy. Your dedication combined with Molly’s love and animal intuition, saved Sammy’s life. Great to see there’s still love and compassion in this world.
I love these animal friensdship videos. Thank you Darlene for rescuing this poor baby.
OMG!!! What a sweet story thank God for Molly, she help save Sammy! Good luck Sammy in your new life!!!!!!!
This is an animal who is teaching all of us how to help animals. This is a beautiful sentiment.
Love to hear about things like this
Dogs are just amazing therapy animals. There was a dog named Bella (I think) at the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee who befriended one of the elephants there. The two of them were inseparable. I hope Sammy and Darlene have many happy moments together.
I am so happ2for this little guy. God bless the equine rescue and Sammy. ANIMALS ARE AWESOME!!!
Thank you to all who have worked to negate the bad treatment of this poor miniature horse.
Much love and success!
This proves a point I have said all along..dogs are not just man’s best friend, but all animal’s best friend.
Thank you, Darlene and Molly, for not giving up on this little 1…Damn onions must be nearby.
