An adorable dog held her new foster mom’s hand the entire two-and-a-half hour drive home from the shelter.

The 4-year-old dog, Regan, ended up at the shelter after her owner died. It was a scary and confusing place for Regan, and it took 3 days for the dog to trust her patient foster mom, Kim Mozena Rezac. Because of the extra excited way Regan greeted her, Rezac decided that the pup belonged in her home until more permanent arrangements could be made.

This video of Regan holding Rezac’s hand went viral and resulted in a potential forever home for the sweet canine, who’s been placed with a couple that plans to adopt her if things go well.

Although the attention garnered by this heartwarming video has helped Regan find a safe and happy home, Rezac hopes people remember the countless other dogs living in shelters, waiting for someone to share their unconditional love with.
