Boncuk the dog ran away and waited outside a hospital in Turkey for days when her sick guardian, Cemal Senturk, went in for treatment.

This loyal pup followed the ambulance to the facility in the city of Trabzon, located along the Black Sea. Senturk’s daughter, Aynur Egeli, took Boncuk home. But the pup returned to the hospital every day, hoping to see her beloved guardian.

“She comes in every day around 9 a.m. and waits until nightfall,” a security guard told Turkish news agency DHS. “She doesn’t go in. When the door opens she pokes her head inside.”

After six days, doctors discharged Senturk from the hospital. He and Boncuk reunited and returned home together. A video of the happy reunion showed Boncuk wagging his tail wildly as he pranced around his guardian’s wheel chair.

“She’s very used to me,” Sentuck said. “And I missed her too, constantly.”

This heartwarming story reminds us of the special and long-lasting bonds that form between people and their companion animals.
