This adorable group of special needs dogs, named the “Fowler Herd” after their guardian, aren’t allowing their disabilities to control their lives.
Vermont resident Tracey Fowler dedicates her life to rescuing dogs with physical challenges in need of forever homes. She currently cares for seven dogs, five of which rely on wheelchairs to get around.
Tracey fell in love with special needs dogs when her German Shepherd, Hayden, was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, a progressive spinal cord disease that affects some senior canines. She was scared that Hayden would struggle to adjust to his cart, but it took him no time at all to figure it out. Before she knew it, Hayden was riding around without any issues!
After Hayden passed away, Tracey decided to commit to caring for dogs who need some extra help. To maintain their mobility throughout winter, she even attaches skis to their carts when it snows.
This charming video of the Fowler Herd frolicking outside reminds us that animals with physical challenges can live fulfilling lives provided a little extra care and support.
Very special to watch, heart-warming!
I knew George would goo over that fence !!!
What a treat to watch! I love that she fitted them with skis so they could play in the snow but in Vermont they are necessary. Such lucky and decked out dogs. There are able bodied dogs who get hardly any exercise but Tracy Fowler knows that all dogs need to run and have fun. IF you were close to me in VT I would love to visit! I love seeing happy animals.
While I appreciate the compassionate heart of the guardian, the video was concerning to watch because it clearly shows that the lack of proper fencing was not safe. The one dog clearly was accustomed to escaping, and the property is on a very busy street.
What a special human being Tracey is. This is truly an amazing thing you are doing. Dogs look so happy and are made me smile. Thank you Tracey.
she sure is
This is what I call pure love.
omg wayyyyyy toooo cute.
BEAUTIFUL — THANK YOU for being there for them — they’re great — you’re the best.
How lovely to see dogs just being dogs 🐶🐕🐾❤❤
thats what iys about dogs being dogs
Stopp tortur av dyr!
This incredible expression of love deserves applause. How grateful we should be for God creating such caring people. This video should be called ” Happiness On Ice “. Maybe have a fundraiser to get some better fencing.
Wonderful, just dogs being dogs!!
Well done. Tracey. You are a real heroine.
