Fifteen-year old Bear had been tethered to a heavy chain for his entire life when Guardians of Rescue in Smithtown, New York got a call about a dog supposedly in need of a dog house.

When they arrived on the scene, it was clear that Bear needed much more help than that. Fortunately, Bear’s owner was willing to surrender him and allow him to be placed in a more suitable home.

In the video below, Brian Sperazza and Nick Barella from Guardians of Rescue take Bear to see the beach for the first time. And the Labrador-retriever mix thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

“He likes the sand between his paws. He got to play with some ducks and sea gulls,” said Brian as Bear waded in the ocean and watched sea gulls fly up into the sky.

The group then headed to Starbucks, where Bear sampled his first puppuccino. He dug right in and polished it off with gusto.

Bear is looking for a loving home to spend the rest of his days in playful abandon. Those interested in adopting the good-natured senior dog can contact the rescue at [email protected] or 631-891-8430.
