On December 27, a pregnant cow escaped from a slaughterhouse-bound truck and was found wandering on a busy New Jersey highway around 4 o’clock AM.

After the cow was corralled by police, her owner agreed to release her to the care of the Skylands Animal Sanctuary in Sussex County, where she’s been named Brianna.

Just days later, on New Year’s Eve, Brianna gave birth to a calf named Winter around 1:30 PM. The sanctuary posted a video of the birth to their Facebook page.

What started out as a happy ending for one brave and special cow has now doubled! Not only has Brianna been spared from certain death, Winter will never know the cruel suffering of a factory farm or slaughterhouse. We thank Skylands for caring for this beautiful family.
