Rabbits, guinea pigs, and other animals gained added protections from under a newly-passed Washington law, sending a strong message to cosmetic brands that test on animals: “You are not welcome here!”
Each year, countless defenseless animals are forced to have painful and sometimes deadly chemicals poured in their eyes, on their skin, and down their throats – causing excruciating chemical burns and poisonings – in cruel cosmetic tests. No animal deserves to suffer these brutal and often deadly tests.
Cosmetic testing on animals has never been humane. With plenty of safe alternatives and thousands of approved ingredients already on the market, continued testing by cosmetic companies is inexcusable.
With the newly passed Cruelty Free Cosmetics Act, Washington becomes the twelfth state to prohibit selling any cosmetic product that was tested on animals.
The new law goes into effect January 1, 2025.
Lady Freethinker applauds Washington legislation for quickly passing this important animal protection law against cruel and unnecessary cosmetics testing on animals and encourages Congress to pass a nationwide ban.
