Wild horses across the United States need your help! Please join Lady Freethinker for a week of online action from April 28-May 4 to urge the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to stop deadly helicopter roundups – where terrified wild horses are often injured, killed, or separated from their families as they’re chased into corrals by low-flying choppers.

A Lady Freethinker investigation into a BLM roundup last year at the North Lander Complex in Wyoming found that 13 wild horses died — including two foals who appeared to have collapsed from stress and seven horses who suffered fatal injuries.

BLM has many roundups planned for the summer and fall of 2025, and using your voice is important to help us end this outdated practice.

Take action this week to help wild horses!

Please remember to always be professional and respectful when you are advocating for animals to achieve the most effective results.

Monday, April 28
Sign our petition to the Animal Protection Caucus of Congress, urging members to mandate that the BLM use humane birth control methods and end cruel helicopter roundups

Tuesday, April 29

Email the National Wild Horse & Burro Advisory Board – a board composed of advocacy groups, research institutions, veterinarians, natural resource and livestock organizations, members of the general public, and more – who make recommendations to the BLM for consideration at their annual meetings, at whbadvisoryboard@blm.gov and ask that they help save horses’ lives by doing everything in their power to oppose helicopter-assisted wild horse roundups. Feel free to use Lady Freethinker’s template email here and then add your own heartfelt message.

Please tag the BLM’s Instagram account and add a caption about horses deserving kindness and respect! Keep LFT in the loop by tagging us in your posts on Facebook, X, and Instagram.

Sunday, May 4
Share LFT’s petition with 5 family members and friends and ask them to sign! You can also help spread the word by posting this on your social media and texting the link to your loved ones.
