PETITION TARGET: Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Brett Guthrie
Animals used in research labs — including dogs, cats, and monkeys — are often condemned to lives of terror and agony: isolated in cages, stripped of their freedom, crying out in pain, and trembling in fear. Once their bodies and spirits are broken, they are often brutally killed — their lives reduced to disposable test subjects.
Beyond the ethical concerns of experimenting on sentient beings, animal testing often lacks oversight and yields unreliable results.
This is why the reintroduction of the Cease Animal Research Grants Overseas Act is so critical.
From 2011 to 2021, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sent more than $2 billion to foreign organizations to support animal experiments. However, the NIH does not oversee these organizations directly, which increases the risk of misinformation and has led to animals suffering, according to the bill.
If passed, this legislation would bar the NIH from funding these brutal and deadly experiments.
Lady Freethinker applauds Congresswoman Dina Titus and Congressman Troy Nehls for reintroducing this important bill.
Sign our petition urging the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to support this legislation and help protect animals from being experimented on abroad.
