PETITION TARGET: The Hon Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change

UPDATE (12/23/2021): The Feral Horse Action Plan 2021 authorizes Parks Victoria to remove 100 horses from the Bogong High Plains (the herd’s entire population), up to 500 feral horses in the eastern Alpine region, and aerial shooting to kill additional horses. The plan also allows for rehoming of horses, although news reports note there has been limited capability from the public to provide homes for the wild animals. Estimates say that up to 10,000 wild horses could be killed.  We are horrified at such an inhumane management plan and we will continue to advocate for these innocent horses. —Lady Freethinker Staff

Dozens of innocent brumby horses are set to be shot and killed at Australia’s alpine national parks in a brutal culling planned by the Australian Government.

Part of the Feral Horse Strategic Action Plan, the new “kill policy” allows for nearly 100 free-roaming wild horses to be slaughtered in Bogong High Plains.

Cattleman Philip Maguire recently went to court in an effort to stop this inhumane act, accusing Parks Victoria of not engaging with the community about changes to the draft action plan to include the ground shooting of these beautiful equines.

The Victoria supreme court dismissed the case, and now, the barbaric horse slaying can move forward.

Murdering defenseless horses is not a proper way to control their population. Non-violent alternatives are available. We must speak out to save these animals and stop this repulsive cull from taking place.

Sign this petition urging The Hon Lily D’Ambrosio for the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change to call off the cull, prevent the senseless killing of Australian brumbies, and work to find a reasonable, cruelty-free alternative.
