Tonto, a gentle 22-year-old horse was reportedly shot through the leg and left with catastrophic injuries so severe that his grieving family had to make the heartbreaking decision to have him euthanized, according to Local News 8. Tonto had been part of the family since 2018 — a gentle companion who enjoyed his peaceful pasture in Idaho.
According to East Idaho News, Tonto was shot between Saturday night and Sunday morning near Sage Lakes Golf Course. His guardian said blood, footprints, and the angle of the wound led him to believe the shooting was intentional. Idaho Falls Police said investigators are taking the case seriously and following up on leads.
Tonto’s pain and his family’s grief deserve more than unanswered questions — they deserve a full investigation and accountability.
