PETITION TARGET: San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas
Authorities discovered the corpses of 53 horses, a cow, and a dog at several properties in San Joaquin County, California — in what appears to be a heartbreaking case of neglect, according to local news. Dozens of defenseless animals were found in horrific condition during the investigation — including thirteen additional horses, a donkey, and a bull who tragically did not survive even after being seized.
Photos of the 95 horses and three alpacas who survived are haunting. The helpless animals were found in varying states of neglect, but some of the horses looked skeletal in their malnourishment — their bones painfully visible beneath their skin. Some horses’ hooves were also in dire need of care when they were seized.
No companion animal should be left to suffer without proper food, water, or medical care. These innocent beings — including those who likely suffered until their last breath — deserve justice.
A woman has been arrested and is facing several charges, including animal cruelty.
Sign our petition urging the San Joaquin County District Attorney to prosecute this woman to the fullest extent of the law — including mandating intensive psychological intervention and a lifelong ban on having animals.
