PETITION TARGETS: Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Adams County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Heidelberg
Dozens of severely malnourished animals — including dogs, a horse, a donkey, goats, chickens, and a rabbit—were allegedly left to waste away without sufficient food or water on a rural property in Natchez, Mississippi, according to local news.
In addition, dogs were reportedly found tethered by heavy chains beside inadequate shelters, and older dogs bore scars from injuries that had apparently gone untreated. Animal Rescue Corps responders even discovered items linked to dogfighting.
Fifteen neglected dogs and a rabbit were ultimately rescued from the property. However, the animals kept as livestock, who had been seen there earlier, were allegedly moved despite instructions not to relocate any animals during the investigation.
A man was initially charged with 15 counts of simple cruelty to a cat or dog and 20 counts of confining animals without food or water, but was recently convicted on only six of the simple-cruelty counts.
Sign our petition to urge the Adams County Sheriff’s Office to determine the whereabouts and welfare of every animal connected to this case and call on the Adams County prosecuting attorney to pursue all remaining appropriate charges.
