PETITION TARGET: Etowah County District Attorney

A terrified dog was allegedly used in target practice by teens with a gun in Alabama, as a video posted to social media appeared to show, reported WBRC/Gray News.

The video, which spread online, showed an innocent dog in terror as a gun was aimed at him. Tied to a tree with a short rope, the restrained dog was unable to run away. The gun was fired. It missed.

The shooter seemed to chuckle and pass the gun off to another person as the helpless dog moved in short, frenzied half-circles around the tree in obvious fear for his life.

Thankfully, the dog survived. After the video spread online, the pup was recognized as a missing dog named Bullet. He was returned to his family following an investigation by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. While safe, Bullet reportedly suffered from a clear limp and will need a full medical exam.

“He’s traumatized,” one of Bullet’s guardians said. “We were told to keep him away from fireworks, put some headphones on him if we have to. Just make sure he’s not around anything that’s not going to set him off, but other than that he has been very good.”

The teens, one of whom is 18 years old and the other of whom is a juvenile, have been arrested on animal cruelty charges, according to the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.

This merciless display of animal cruelty cannot go ignored.

Sign our petition urging the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office to treat this case with the severity it deserves and order psychological counseling for the individuals responsible — before any other innocent, lost animal is hurt.
