PETITION TARGET: Merseyside Police
Adrian and Vasile Serban were tried and convicted of crimes associated with circumstances surrounding the killing of dog Hindo, according to sentencing documents obtained via public records request to the Liverpool Crown Court.
Adrian Serban was tried on Sept. 20, 2019 and found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and affray. On Jan. 14, 2020, he was sentenced to three years imprisonment and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £ 170 — the equivalent of about $237 USD.
Vasile Serban was tried on Oct. 19, 2018, and on Sept. 20, 2019 on counts of afray and destroying or damaging property of unknown value. He was sentenced on Jan. 14, 2020, to 22 months imprisonment and to pay a victim surcharge of £ 140 — the equivalent of about $195 USD.
We are grateful that Liverpool Crown Court prosecutors held these individuals accountable for their actions in the cruel and brutal killing of an innocent animal, and we thank the more than 20,700 people who signed our petition demanding justice for Hindo. We hope he is now resting in peace and no longer suffering.

UPDATE (6/24/2021): Vasile Serban has been acquitted of wounding with intent and unlawful wounding but still faces a charge of criminal damage — a property crime — for his alleged role in killing Hindo. Adrian Serban still faces charges of wounding and affray, which he has denied, according to the Liverpool Echo. The case is being handled by the Liverpool Crown Court.
A Liverpool family is heartbroken after their beloved dog Hindo was brutally hurled from their balcony and then beaten to death with sticks by an angry mob.
The group was drinking and throwing bottles in the streets outside the family’s apartment when the mother spoke to them to try to get them to quiet down. Instead, the thugs climbed up to the balcony wielding broken bottles and knives. When loyal Hindo tried to protect his family, the mob threw him from the balcony to the street below.
When poor Hindo landed, they proceeded to beat him mercilessly.
Hindo died in this ruthless attack, and now justice must be served. Sign this petition urging police to fully investigate and prosecute all individuals involved in the killing of this innocent animal.
