For three long weeks, a determined stray dog in New Bern, North Carolina dodged the rescue efforts of the Craven County Animal Protective Services, according to local news.

But thanks to the persistence and compassion of the officers, her story now has a happy ending.

The final, successful rescue attempt, aptly named Operation “Under a Shed,” occurred when the elusive dog was found underneath a shed, taking cover in a storm.

The officers pounced on the opportunity. They set out food and water and came up with a strategy to secure the scared pooch.

Even though the space was cramped and the team got covered in dirt as they lay flat on their stomachs and peered under the shed, they were eventually able to capture the frightened pup.

The dog is now safe and in the care of Craven-Pamlico Animal Services.

This rescue is a testament to the kindness and dedication of those who work to protect animals in need. We hope this sweet senior girl will soon find a forever home and be showered with the love and affection she deserves.
