A bald puppy – now named Naya – suffering from mange and covered in writing was recently rescued by Hungry Tailz Rescue from a homeless encampment in Stockton, CA, according to People.

A pillar of Hungry Tailz Rescue is their weekly venture to unhoused encampments in the area, where they feed, spay, and rescue animals in need.

On a run-of-the-mill visit, Hungry Tailz was feeding pets at a homeless site when an individual sought their attention for a puppy she believed needed help. Reportedly bald and covered in writing, Hungry Tailz saw the pup and unfortunately found the description accurate.

They immediately took Naya in, and after a veterinary evaluation, discovered she had  “Demodectic mange caused by microscopic mites,” — a condition that can result in accelerated fur loss and irritated skin when accompanied by a weak immune system, according to Newsweek.

After her evaluation, Naya received a flea and tick treatment and a medicated bath to remove the writing from her body.

Thanks to Hungry Tailz Rescue, Naya is now with a foster family and healing in a safe environment, receiving the love and comfort she deserves.
