A pony who was found stuck neck-deep in a muddy U.K. pond in the New Forest is now safe and free, thanks to a skilled and strategic rescue effort, according to the BBC.
Fortunately, the trapped pony was spotted during the evening by an observant family camping in the area, who then contacted the authorities for help.
Upon arrival, the rescue team—made up of an animal rescue officer, firefighters, and a livestock caretaker—used inflatable paths to cross the pond and employed specialist techniques to remove the animal from the treacherous situation.
Once safely back on land, the healthy young pony regained strength quickly and disappeared into the countryside to rejoin the many animals who call the New Forest home.
Stories like this are a powerful reminder of how important it is to stay alert and work together to protect the animals who share our world.
Lady Freethinker is grateful to the caring campers and adept responders whose actions helped this vulnerable pony return to the wild where they belong.
