On February 16, police rescued a deer who was entangled in a hammock rope in Livonia, Michigan, according to Hometown Life.

Officers from the Livonia Police Department arrived at the scene early in the morning after a homeowner notified them about the trapped buck.

An officer borrowed a pole saw belonging to the homeowner and maintained his distance while cutting the rope. However, the buck was desperately trying to get loose, and the officer had to wait for him to stop struggling before setting him free.

“We’re just trying to help,” an officer says in the video. “Calm down.”

The officer then finished cutting the rope, and the buck was successfully set free, yet he remained in place for a few moments.

“You’re free dude,” the officer said. “You’re good, man, go!”

Initially a bit unsteady on his feet, the buck then sprinted away with some rope still attached to his antlers.

Lt. Sabbadin of the Livonia Police Department encourages residents to contact the police when they encounter animals who need help.

Lady Freethinker commends these officers for safely freeing this buck and allowing him to return to his natural life unharmed.
