For the second year, Lady Freethinker is a sponsor of VegWeek, a weeklong event that aims to inspire people across the country to explore plant-based eating.

The event is hosted by Compassion Over Killing, a nonprofit animal protection organization that focuses on cruelty in animal agriculture. The annual campaign encourages participants to take the 7-Day VegPledge.

“Lady Freethinker is thrilled to help sponsor this lifesaving campaign, which will show tens of thousands of people how making compassionate food choices can be healthy, delicious and kind to animals,” said LFT President Nina Jackel.

Throughout VegWeek, restaurants across the country serve a vast assortment of meatless dishes. Bakeries offer custom plant-based creations, and universities and libraries show documentaries that expose the horrors of the animal agriculture industry while highlighting the health benefits of a whole-foods, plant-based diet.

Leading up to the week of action, pledgers receive free recipes and exclusive discounts at participating locations.

Veganism is on the rise in the United States, with consumers identifying as vegan growing from 1% to 6% from 2014 to 2017. Education-based campaigns like VegWeek are changing hearts and minds, and the food industry is listening. Major restaurants are putting vegan meals on their menus, and the amount of plant-based meat and dairy alternatives continues to climb with increasing demand.

“In 2018 we saw more VegPledges than ever before, and this year’s campaign is sure to be an even sweeter success, as popular plant-based foods have firmly taken root in the mainstream,” stated Jessica Carter, vegan food & lifestyle coach at Compassion Over Killing.

VegWeek 2019 kicks off on Earth Day (April 22) and runs through April 29. Click here to take the pledge now.
