Dogs and cats in Sri Lanka are receiving veterinary care and shelter at a rescue sanctuary — thanks to an Urgent Need Fund grant sponsored by LFT supporter donations.

Baw Baw Animal Welfare, an organization committed to caring for animals in Sri Lanka’s most underserved districts, launched sterilization and vaccination campaigns — both for beloved pets whose guardians had never before had access to veterinarians as well as for street dogs & cats who had nowhere to turn for much-needed care. Over 300 animals received spay/neuter surgeries and rabies vaccinations at mobile clinics held in the village of Hakmana in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province.

The organization also provided critical care for 60 dogs rescued from the streets of Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, another village critically lacking veterinary care. The animals received treatment for illness and injury as well as ongoing care at Baw Baw’s sanctuary, watched over by caregivers who know each one by name.

Thanks to LFT supporters, dogs and cats in Sri Lanka are living happier, healthier lives — and communities are receiving education to ensure continued care — building a brighter future for the animals. We are so grateful for your generosity and compassion.
