A tiny kitten put in a trash bag and thrown from a moving vehicle in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, was rescued by a plumbing technician on a service call, and she now has a loving home with one of the company’s staff members, according to local news.

As Jason Schwartz collected tools from his vehicle at a job site, he witnessed someone hurl a trash bag from a passing car onto the roadside.

He looked over at the bag and, surprisingly, spotted some movement. Thinking it could be a snake, Schwartz picked up a pipe to nudge the bag from a safe distance. That’s when it hit him: someone had thrown away a small kitten.

He then retrieved the vulnerable feline, and his client provided him with a blanket and a container to keep her warm and safe. At his next service call, he was able to get some syringes from his client to help feed her.

Once they returned to the office, a staff member named Olivia Thomas brought her to a vet, where it was discovered that the kitten, no more than three weeks old, had pneumonia. Fortunately, she recovered after receiving medicine.

Since Thomas loves cats and already has one of her own, it was decided that she would provide the kitten with a home.

“People do a lot of bad things out there so it makes me feel better that I can correct that,” Thomas said. “Every time I look at her, I wonder how they could do that, but I think everything happens for a reason and now she’s with me and she’s my family.”

It also appears the little one will continue spending time at the office, surrounded by the caring staff who embraced her from the start.

Lady Freethinker is grateful to Jason Schwartz for saving the kitten and to Olivia Thomas for providing her with the safe and caring home she deserves.
