A dog named Michael Jordan is fortunate to be alive after being left in a dangerously hot car in Colorado, according to The Sacramento Bee.

As the German Shepherd barked and panted in the back seat, growing weaker by the minute, a passerby saw him and made the lifesaving call to Animal Law Enforcement.

When the officer arrived, she pulled the door open and lifted Michael Jordan out of the overheated vehicle. Disturbingly, she discovered the dashboard had reached a blistering 118 degrees, with the back seat not far behind at 107—conditions that could have easily proved fatal.

Safely inside the animal control truck, the dog was treated with air conditioning and given all the cold water he could drink. Though weak, he managed a small tail wag to show his gratitude.

After the rescue, he was brought to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, where he was made available for adoption.

Michael Jordan’s close call is a powerful reminder that leaving a dog in a hot car—even briefly on a warm day—can have deadly consequences.

Lady Freethinker is grateful to the good Samaritan and responding officer who helped save Michael Jordan and urges everyone to take action if they see a dog left in a hot car.
