A blind 4-year-old dog named Who Goes There and her 1-year-old seeing-eye canine companion in Richmond, Va. have finally found a home, WTVR reported.
The bonded pit bulls came to Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) after they were rescued from a life of neglect. The shelter staff spread the word on social media that they were up for adoption as a pair, but the staff was devastated when nearly a week passed without any inquiries about the friendly dogs.
“We are heartbroken to share that we have received ZERO interest in our seeing-eye bonded pair girls,” RACC posted on Facebook. “Hi, It’s Me is the seeing eye dog for Who Goes There and it will just about break your heart with love to see them together.”
The two dogs and their brother, Too Early, were found trapped inside a cage that was abandoned in a car. RACC posted a photo on Facebook of the trio, which shows their nails curling because they were so long and the bottom of the crate covered in feces.
According to the Facebook post, Who Goes There was already missing an eye when she was found. She was also blind and had glaucoma in her remaining eye, so RACC removed it. The dogs were in a dire state, but with the care and love they received at RACC, they were able to recover.
Less than a week after the shelter posted about the lack of interest in the pair, RACC shared some exciting news: The girls were adopted, finally getting the loving family they deserved after coming from a sad situation.
