After spending around five hours trapped in a backyard pond in Spokane Valley, Washington, a moose was finally rescued thanks to the determined efforts of firefighters and animal rescue volunteers, according to local news.

When it became clear that wildlife officials would not be able to offer assistance to the stranded moose in a timely manner, members of the Humane Evacuation Animal Rescue Team and its Technical Large Animal Rescue team joined forces with the Spokane Valley Fire Department to devise a plan to free the animal.

However, the rescue operation was far from straightforward, as the crews had to make multiple attempts to help the moose out of the pond. At one point, rescuers even constructed a ladder ramp in hopes of guiding her to safety, but she was not yet willing to use it.

Just as crews prepared for a more technical operation and additional resources reached the scene, one last collaborative effort paid off, and the moose managed to climb out of the pond on her own before returning to graze nearby, with no serious injuries immediately apparent.

Lady Freethinker is grateful to all the rescuers whose persistence and teamwork helped free this moose and allowed her to make her way back to safety seemingly unharmed.
