Beloved dog Nikko required emergency surgery and days of around-the-clock care following a violent stabbing in his own backyard in Youngstown, Ohio. The helpless animal was brutally beaten, fracturing a tooth and ingesting glass, according to WKBN 27 First News.
The only thing more shocking than the attack are the alleged perpetrators. The suspects are children: ages five, seven, and twelve. They are accused of entering private property and viciously attacking an unsuspecting Nikko.
“I wasn’t sure Nikko would survive,” said his guardian, Jamie Markovich, when recalling the trauma her defenseless dog endured.
Nikko still requires 24-hour monitoring due to the injuries he sustained. No animal deserves to suffer such unprovoked abuse — it’s imperative that the alleged abusers are held accountable and immediately receive the psychological help they need to prevent other innocent animals from being hurt.
