Oreo the cat found himself in a dangerous spot after he was startled by the boisterous blare of the vacuum cleaner and fled for safety – up his home’s chimney, where he remained trapped for two days until the London Fire Brigade came to his rescue.
The fire brigade’s Bexley and Greenwich Red Watch teams were called after Oreo’s guardian grew increasingly concerned when Oreo did not come back down.
The fire crews diligently worked for three hours, utilizing the 75-foot ladder on their firetruck to rescue the frightened, exhausted cat. Oreo was covered in soot but eventually safely returned to his family.
“Firefighters love animals too and we are ready, willing and able to assist distressed or injured animals,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson told UPI.
Lady Freethinker applauds the Bexley and Greenwich Red Watch crews for their hard work in rescuing Oreo from his dangerous hiding spot.
